Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

LoveType (lovetype-app.com) is operated by an individual, Fabrizio Candi ("LoveType", "we", "us"), who is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. LoveType is not a company.

2. What we collect and why

Quiz and your result

When you take the quiz, your answers and your LoveType result are processed in your browser and saved in your device's local storage so you can come back to them. We do not need an account for this. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Anonymous usage counts

To understand how the site is used, our own server keeps aggregate counters: which steps were reached (for example quiz started or completed), the LoveType result, a coarse device type (such as mobile or desktop) and where the visit came from (a campaign tag or the referring website). These counters are not tied to your name, email or an individual profile. We use them to improve the product.

Email sign-up

If you give us your email, we store your email, your LoveType result and, if you provide it, a first name. At the moment we do not send emails to this list. If we start, we will say so here, ask for your consent where the law requires it and include an unsubscribe link in every message. To have your email removed, write to lovetypelab@gmail.com.

Coach Laura (AI)

Coach Laura is an AI. The messages you write, and the context you choose to add (such as people you name and your relationship status), are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. To make conversations coherent, we keep a short "memory" of your conversation on our servers, linked to a random identifier (free trial) or your access token (subscribers), not to your name. Coach Laura is for adults only (18+); you are asked to confirm your age before using it. Before your first message you are asked for your explicit consent to process any sensitive information you write (for example about health, sexuality or beliefs). The box is not ticked for you; without your consent Coach Laura does not process your messages (the rest of LoveType still works), and the server refuses any message that does not carry it. You can withdraw consent at any time with Withdraw consent in the Coach, which also erases your Coach memory, or erase the memory alone with Forget my Coach data.

Laura is not a therapist, doctor or emergency service and cannot replace professional help. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number.

Personal Reconnection Plan

If you request a plan, we collect your email and your answers to the intake questions. Most are multiple choice. The free-text story is optional: if you write one, you are asked for your explicit consent to process any sensitive information in it (the box is not ticked for you), and we record that you agreed; without a story, nothing sensitive is asked. A story without your consent is refused, and never sent to our AI provider. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing and avoid unnecessary details about other people. We process your answers to generate your plan with our AI provider, store the finished plan so you can access it, and email you the access link. Your raw answers, including any story, are erased 30 days after your plan is delivered; the finished plan stays available at your private link for 24 months after you last open it, and you can save a copy (print or PDF) from the plan page.

3. Legal bases (EU / UK GDPR)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on: contract (delivering a purchase, a plan, the Coach or the email you asked for); consent (advertising cookies and measurement, marketing emails, and, explicitly, any sensitive information you choose to write to Coach Laura or in the plan story; you can withdraw consent at any time); legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, aggregate product analytics); and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).

4. Advertising measurement: Meta Pixel and Conversions API

When we run ads on Facebook or Instagram we want to know whether they work. Advertising measurement is off by default and starts only after you press Accept on our banner. If you press Decline, or ignore the banner, no Meta script is loaded, no Meta cookie is set and no event is sent to Meta, from your browser or from our servers.

If you accept, two tools may be used:

• Meta Pixel (in your browser): loads a script from Meta, sets the cookies _fbp and, if you arrived from a Meta ad, _fbc, and reports page views and steps such as quiz started, quiz completed and checkout started.
• Conversions API (from our servers): we send Meta the same steps plus a confirmed purchase (product name, amount and currency, as confirmed by Stripe), together with your cookie identifiers, IP address, browser user-agent and, for purchases, your email address in hashed (irreversibly scrambled) form, so Meta can match the event to your account and avoid counting it twice.

We use this to measure and optimise our ads. Meta ([[VERIFY: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited for EEA/UK users, Meta Platforms, Inc. elsewhere]]) receives this data and may use it under its own terms and privacy policy, including to show you ads; see Meta's Privacy Policy. We never send the text of your quiz answers, Coach conversations, or plan answers to Meta.

You can also manage ad preferences in your Facebook/Instagram settings, and delete cookies in your browser.

6. Who receives your data

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run LoveType, under their terms or a data processing agreement:

• Netlify: hosting, serverless functions and storage of the data described above.
• Stripe: payments and subscription management.
• Google (Gmail): receives the support emails you send us.
• Resend: sending transactional and sign-up emails.
• Anthropic: the AI model that powers Coach Laura and your Reconnection Plan.
• Meta: only if you accept advertising measurement (section 4).

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect rights and safety. 7. International transfers

Our providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies we rely on these safeguards:

• Stripe and Resend: their certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in their data processing terms.
• Netlify and Anthropic: the SCCs (European Commission Implementing Decision 2021/914) in their data processing addenda.
• Meta (only if you accept advertising measurement): Meta Platforms, Inc.'s certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

8. How long we keep data

We keep data only as long as the purpose needs it. Deletion runs automatically every day; you can also ask us to delete your data at any time (section 9).

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to some processing; receive a copy in a portable format; withdraw consent at any time; and complain to the data protection authority of your country. Residents of some US states have similar rights, including to know, delete and correct data and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for advertising. We do not sell personal data; advertising measurement only runs with your consent (section 4). [[VERIFY: whether US state laws apply to the operator]]

To exercise a right, email lovetypelab@gmail.com. We may need to verify it is you, and we will answer within one month. You do not need a reason to ask us to delete your data.

What deleting your data means. We delete your records from our own systems: your sign-up, account, memory and plan, and also the records that let us restore access to what you bought. After that we can no longer restore that access; keep your files. Stripe is a separate company and keeps its own payment records as the law requires; we cannot delete those.

10. Age

LoveType's Coach and paid products are for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use encrypted connections, restrict access to stored data, hash identifiers where possible and rate-limit sensitive endpoints. No system is perfectly secure; please do not share anything you would not want stored with a service provider.

13. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. For material changes affecting consent, we will ask again.
